Kingsland Road exited the show following a sing-off with Tamera Foster. The result means that Gary Barlow has only one finalist remaining in his Groups category.

The boyband took on James Morrison's 'I Won't Let You Go' in a bid to keep their place in the competition, while Foster performed Whitney Houston's 'I Have Nothing'.

Nicole Scherzinger was the first judge to vote and opted to send home Kingsland Road, while Barlow stuck by his act and voted to send home Foster.

Impartial judges Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne voted to send home Barlow's act, adding that Foster had more potential in the competition.

Asked by host Dermot O'Leary about their experience, they said: "We loved it. Thank you Gary for everything."

Barlow added: "These guys were together for two years before they joined us. They should stick with what they're doing. They are a hit band and they will be a hit band in the future I'm certain of it."

He also took the opportunity to remind the public to vote based on vocal ability.

"I want to remind everyone out there that this is a singing competition. That's all I have to say," he told O'Leary.

On The Xtra Factor, Scherzinger admitted that she was "shocked" to see Foster in the sing-off. She added that she does not know what she has to do to avoid her falling into the bottom two again.

The latest live results show of the year saw live performances from former winners Little Mix and Taylor Swift, who sang a duet with Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody.

Meanwhile, the finalists came together for a joint rendition of Shalamar's disco classic 'A Night To Remember' at the start of the programme.

The X Factor continues next Saturday (November 9) at 8pm on ITV with the return of Big Band week. Robbie Williams and Celine Dion will perform on next Sunday's (November 10) results show.
