Alex Mills became the latest candidate to be fired by Lord Sugar on tonight's (June 26) episode of The Apprentice

The Welsh business hopeful's plans of opening a legal company with Sugar's £250,000 investment were ruined after he project managed the losing team in a ready meal task.

Mills, Myles Mordaunt, Jordan Poulton and Leah Totton's 'Dead Dinners' concept only picked up 1,000 orders from three supermarkets with many expressing concern at the skull design on the product and lack of appeal for parents with the meals.

Neil Clough's Team Evolve walked away with victory with 2,800 orders for their 'Oh My Pow' meals.

In the boardroom, Mills brought Mordaunt and Totton back for the final showdown and Sugar was torn over who to fire.

"Alex, I do admire your enthusiasm," said Sugar. "And you're very, very young, and I have to say that for someone as young as you, you are someone to be admired.

"Leah, you've spoken up in these last few moments, I see a different person there. I don't want to hear any more from you now - I mean, here you're rattling off like an AK-47 machine gun now. You've spoken more in the last ten minutes than you have in the last nine weeks.

"Myles, the fatal error is you got your customer wrong."

However, when it came to his final verdict, Sugar said it was "with regret" that he was firing Mills.

"I think you're a young, enthusiastic chap, and I want to send you off with a bit of advice - try and stick to something, right, and you're going to succeed," Sugar told Mills.

"But at the moment Alex, it is with regret that you're fired."

Speaking in the black cab home, Mills said: "This had been my first time project managing in nine tasks and, you know, unfortunately it didn't work out.

"Maybe I shouldn't have listened to other people and carried on with what I would have done, then we would have actually won this task. But I've still got my end goal, and that is what I'm going to work towards."

The Apprentice continues next Wednesday (July 3) on BBC One.
