The 30-year-old singer became the sixth act to be eliminated from the competition tonight (November 4).

Sones was in the bottom two this week alongside Rylan Clark, and the pair went head to head in a final sing-off.

The 30-year-old singer performed 'I Won't Give Up' by Jason Mraz, while Clark sang a rendition of 'Kissing You' by Des'ree.

Turning to the judges after their performances, presenter Dermot O'Leary asked each who they would like to keep in the competition. Nicole Scherzinger chose to save her mentee Clark, saying he brought "light and energy" to the show, while Gary Barlow chose to save his act Sones, saying it was a "simple" decision to make.

Louis Walsh added it was an "amazing" sing-off, and that Rylan "proved [he] really can sing" before choosing to send home Rylan.

Tulisa then said that both acts gave some of their best vocal performances in the sing-off, but that "it's not just a singing competition, it's The X Factor", adding: "The act that I look forward to seeing each week is Rylan. I've got to go with my heart, I'm sorry - the act I'm sending home is Kye."

The decision then went to Deadlock, and it was revealed that Sones would be leaving the competition.

Sones's mentor Gary Barlow said: "When you have an act like Rylan in the competition, good singers go home."

Asked by presenter Dermot O'Leary what the best thing about his experience was, Sones said it was "performing every week and being able to do this". He also said that he would be releasing an album.

Later on, he told Xtra Factor presenters Caroline Flack and Olly Murs that he was "good" and "really pleased [his] last performance was a good one".

Talking about controversial contestant Clark, Sones added: "I absolutely love Rylan. He's going to be a good mate of mine for many years to come."

He revealed that he came on the show to "get a platform", and added: "I would have liked to have showcased my own music, but I wasn't given the opportunity."

He also said that he was surprised Christopher Maloney was the last remaining act in the 'Overs' category.

When asked by Flack what he really thought of fellow 'Overs' act Maloney, Sones replied: "It was fine. I shared a room with him for six weeks. You know, Chris is Chris."

He also said that he felt there was "a little bit" of tension between boybands District3 and Union J on the show.
