Bruce Forsyth is to take a break from Strictly Come Dancing midway through the series.

The presenter will miss the show on November 10 so he can rest before hosting the following weekend's live Children in Need episode from Wembley Arena, according to the Daily Mail

The 84-year-old apparently wants to recuperate from the strain of hosting Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday nights. The Sunday night results show is pre-recorded shortly after the main show finishes.

Tess Daly will serve as the main host, while former It Takes Two presenter Claudia Winkleman will take on Daly's role backstage with the contestants.

Forsyth is said to have negotiated the week-long break with producers before the tenth series began filming in September.

A Strictly Come Dancing spokesman said: "Even national treasures are allowed to take a week off. Sir Bruce is taking a short break so he can be on top form and fighting fit for the Children in Need show at Wembley the following week."

The Children in Need Strictly Come Dancing special, rumoured to feature performances from Kylie Minogue and Girls Aloud, airs on November 17.

'Strictly' Ola Jordan taking time out after mother's heart attack

Ola Jordan will take time out from Strictly Come Dancing after her mother suffered a heart attack on Saturday night.

Janina Grabowska was taken ill on Friday and Jordan flew out to Poland to see her yesterday (October 21) and will miss this week's rehearsals, The Sun reports.

"It is devastating news for Ola. Her mum is out of the woods but it has been a huge shock for the family," a source told the newspaper.

"She was a real trooper agreeing to dance on Saturday night with that at the front of her mind. We've told her to take as long as she needs."

Sid Owen, Jordan's partner, will rehearse with Iveta Lukosiute, who previously partnered Johnny Ball before he became the first star to be eliminated from the show.

Lukosiute had been drafted in to dance with Ball after his original partner Aliona Vilani suffered an ankle injury.

Singer Dionne Warwick was taken to hospital after recording her performance for the dancing show at the weekend, having previously suffered an ankle injury at her hotel.

Meanwhile, 84-year-old host Bruce Forsyth will miss the November 10 show to rest ahead of the live Children in Need episode from Wembley Arena.
