The lawyer and entrepreneur, who has received the lowest score from the judges every week, was finally eliminated along with her partner Anton du Beke after the competition's Halloween special.

Audley Harrison and Natalie Lowe finished in the bottom two next to Dell'Olio when viewer votes were combined with the panel's verdict.

"I will miss many moments, of course," Dell'Olio told hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman after her exit. "It has been such a full-on experience. I am going to go back to the rest of my life, but of course I'm going to miss a lot of it.

"I've had a lot of fun, it's been an incredible experience. It has given to me quite a lot, meeting incredible people, and learning dancing... partly!"

Despite struggling on Strictly, Dell'Olio claimed that she would continue to practice her ballroom steps.

"I'm definitely going to keep dancing, because it is fantastic exercise, not only physically but for the mind, for everything," she said.

Edwina Currie, Dan Lobb and Rory Bremner were the first contestants to exit Strictly's ninth series.

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday (November 5) at 6.25pm on BBC One.
