Maybe it just didn't hold up?

Ever since The Great British Bake Off exploded in popularity, a whole host of feel-good and twee (in a good way) shows were commissioned by broadcasters.

While Bake Off is still going strong on Channel 4, shows like Britain's Best Bakery and Food Glorious Food have crumbled, and now another cutesy competition show has been thrown in the bin.

As reported in The Mirror, the BBC has cancelled The Great Pottery Throw Down after two series.

A spokesperson from the Beeb is quoted as saying: "Whilst we are proud of The Great Pottery Throw Down and very grateful to everyone involved in the two series, we sometimes have to take difficult decisions in order to make room for new shows."

The show is made by Love Productions, who obviously had a bit of a falling out with the BBC over Bake Off in 2016.

Before you start going off with your conspiracy theories about Throw Down's cancellation being a spite thing, we'd like to remind you that the Beeb are bringing back Love Productions' The Great British Sewing Bee, which originally ran between 2013 and 2016 and is now returning in 2019 with new host Joe Lycett.

The Great Pottery Throw Down aired for two series on BBC Two, with series one in 2015 and series two in 2017, and was hosted by BBC radio legend Sara Cox.
