Ben Haenow has won The X Factor 2014.

Dermot O'Leary announced the news during tonight's live finale (December 14) at the Wembley SSE Arena.

Fleur East and Haenow were the final two competitors in the running for the title, after Andrea Faustini left the competition last night (December 13).

On hearing the news, Haenow said: "Oh my god! I can't believe it! I can't believe it! Thank you so much for making my dream come true."

His mentor Simon Cowell added: "First of all - a fantastic runner-up, Fleur! I could not be happier for you, Ben. You deserved it, you're a great guy."

Tonight's final included performances from Olly Murs with Demi Lovato, One Direction and Sam Smith, after all of the 16 X Factor finalists reunited to perform for the show's opening medley.

Judge Mel B also made a return to the judging panel, after missing last night's live show due to illness.

Haenow's winner's single is a cover of OneRepublic's 'Something I Need'.
