The Mrs Brown's Boys actress and MacManus faced the dance-off alongside Simon Webbe and his professional partner Kristina Rihanoff.

The bottom two couples were decided through a combination of the judges' scores and the results of the viewer vote.

Gibney and MacManus performed their foxtrot to 'Mamma Mia', while Webbe and Rihanoff aimed to impress the judges with their Rhumba to 'Take My Breath Away'.

Gibney's foxtrot scored 23 during Saturday's (October 11) show, while Webbe's Rhumba scored a 30 from the judges.

After both performances, the judges had to decide who to save for another week and who to send home.

Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Webbe and Rihanoff, as did Darcey Bussell.

She said: "I think both couples upped their game 100 per cent tonight, but the couple I'd like to save is Simon and Kristina."

Guest judge Donny Osmond also chose to save Webbe, as did Bruno Tonioli.

Tonioli said: "I agree with my fellow judges. Simon and Kristina had the edge."

Finally, head judge Len Goodman also agreed that Webbe deserved to be saved.

On hearing her fate, Gibney said that she had "a great time" learning to dance for the series.

"Before this, I didn't know how to dance," she said. "I wanted to learn how to dance and I now know how to Jive, how to Waltz and how to Foxtrot, however badly!

"I've learned three dances and I've had a great time with Tristan. He is one of the family and he will remain one of the family."

Professional partner MacManus said: "Jenny tried her best. She made every day that I've known her so far as enjoyable as the next. I hope she's not telling lies now and she will talk to me after tonight! It's been a pleasure to get to know you and your family."

Tonight's results show also featured a performance from Osmond.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday, October 18 at 6:30pm on BBC One, with the results show airing on October 19 at 7:20pm.
