Marvin Francis has been named the winner of BBC Three's competition Hair.
The 25-year-old burst into tears when he beat out Katie Crompton and Dominika Kasperowicz to take the trophy after three final challenges.
All I've ever done is just hair," he said. "I haven't done anything else. I never went to college, I never finished school. I know it's only an amateur competition, but it means so much to me that I won and I'm so thankful that I won."
The trio began by showing off their best victory rolls, with judges Denise McAdam and Alain Pichon praising all three of them for their skills.
However, the competition really began in earnest in the precision cutting round as the finalists were tasked with creating a graduated bob on their blockheads.
The round was won by Crompton, but the judges were less impressed with Kasperowicz and Francis's attempts, as they suggested that both of them went too high with their graduation.
But there was a surprise in store for the final freestyle challenge, as host Steve Jones announced that the theme was "Hollywood glamour".
However, the contestants were not allowed to choose their models - and were shocked to discover that they would actually be styling their mothers' dos.
The reunions were extremely emotional, as Francis was warned by his mother not to cry and Kasperowicz rushed to hug her mum, from whom she'd been separated for some time.
On the day of the freestyle challenge, all three contestants attempted some dramatic styles, as Francis explained that he was going for a "Veronica Lake-inspired hairstyle with a modern twist via Katy Perry" - which required him to make a hairpiece. However, he struggled with his nerves as his hands began to shake.
Elsewhere, Kasperowicz decided to glue hair extensions into her mother's hair - something she had never done before - for a Joan Rivers inspired look, but began to worry about how much she had cut the do, telling her mum: "You look like Rod Stewart."
Meanwhile, Crompton went for a pin curled chignon hairstyle but was concerned about hurting her mother while she was completing the look. Her mum also offered helpful advice about which feathers to use.
The judges' comments were largely favourable about all three, as Crompton's do was described as "gorgeous", "clean" and "defined", though Pichon and McAdam agreed that it could have used more height. Meanwhile, Kasperowicz's hair was praised for its colour matching, though the judges suggested she didn't look comfortable cutting it.
Finally, Francis was praised for his glamorous, "glossy" hairdo as McAdam pointed out that it was hard to see the join between his mother's hair and her weave.
In the end, it was down to Jones to present Francis with the trophy, as Pichon explained: "Out of all the contestants, I think Marvin's the one who listened the most. He really got very seriously into all the techniques, the finishing of his hair and today was the peak of his work."
McAdam added: "He's grown in this competition, he really has. From where he started to where he is now, it's remarkable. He just completely got it together - he nailed it. His mum was stunning."
Francis certainly seemed reluctant to let his trophy go as he admitted: "Me as a person, I ain't the most confident, but I think now with this competition it's definitely helped me with the confidence, definitely. You need to watch out, mum!"
