Ratings: Tashie Jackson's Big Brother eviction seen by 1.8m

The first eviction on this year's Big Brother brought 1.83m (8.1%) viewers to Channel 5, overnight data has revealed.

Tashie Jackson, who emerged from the house to a chorus of boos, brought in a further 1.25m (9.8%) at 11pm for her eviction interview with Brian Dowling, who described the crowd's treatment of the unpopular housemate as "brutal".

While Channel 5 won't be too disappointed with the ratings, Friday night's programme marked a 800k drop week-on-week. A further 510k (5.8%) stayed for Big Brother's Bit On The Side.

Sandwiched between the Big Brother instalments, Gavin Henson vehicle The Bachelor remained steady with 1.13m (6.2%).

On BBC One, The One Show (7pm), Celebrity Masterchef (8.30pm), Would I Lie To You? (9.30pm) and a repeat of Come Fly With Me (10.30pm) nabbed audiences of 3.73m (18.7%), 2.63m (11.7%), 3.59m (16%) and 2.31m (14.9%) respectively. The channel's star performer was Outnumbered at 9pm, with an audience of 4.9m and a 21.5% share.

Athletics coverage on BBC Two generated 1.52m (7.2%) from 7pm, followed by Digging For Britain with 1.42m (6.3%) and QI with 2.67m (13.1%).

ITV1's Love Your Garden sprouted 2.95m (13.3%) at 8pm, with a further 96k (0.4%) opting to watch on timeshift. At 9pm, DCI Banks brought in 4.4m (19.5%), with 149k (0.8%) catching up an hour later.

Channel 4's evening kicked off with Come Dine With Me at 8pm, with 1.25m (5.6%) settling down to watch the usual mixture of cookery and arguments (+1: 203k, 0.9%). The Million Pound Drop grabbed 1.88m (8.5%) from 9pm (+1: 256k, 1.6%), and just 670k (4.1%) stayed for Comedy Showcase (+1: 76k, 0.8%).

Overall, ITV1 led primetime with 20.9%, closely followed by BBC One's 19.3%. BBC Two, Channel 4 and Channel 5 trailed with 7.6%, 5.8% and 4.8% respectively.
