Azerbaijan win Eurovision Song Contest 2011

Azerbaijan have emerged victorious in the Eurovision Song Contest final with Ell/Nikki's 'Running Scared'.

The duo's power ballad topped the scoreboard with 211 points after public and judges' votes from 43 European countries were combined at the climax of tonight's event in Düsseldorf, Germany .

Raphael Gualazzi from Italy finished second with 189 points and Sweden's Eric Saade came third after collecting 185 points.

Jedward finished in a respectable eighth place for Ireland with their infectious pop track 'Lipstick', which scored a total of 119 points including a perfect 12 from Sweden and the United Kingdom.

However, Irish voters failed to return the favour to UK representatives Blue, awarding only six points for their effort 'I Can'. The boyband ended 11th with a round 100 points, claiming the maximum score of 12 from Bulgaria and ten points from Italy.

Blue's final number was ten times greater than last year's UK entry 'That Sounds Good To Me' by Josh Dubovie, which finished in last place at the competition in Oslo, Norway last year.

All 25 entries managed to avoid the dreaded 'nil points', with last-place finisher Switzerland gathering a total of 19.
