A Coventry house was featured on BBC's Homes Under the Hammer this morning (June 16). The property programme visited the "bit dated and bit tired" home after it was sold at auction in October 2021.

The area where of the three-bed, end-terrace house sits was not revealed, but the presenter said it was close to local shops and plenty of amenities. It was in need of a lot of work to modernise it and get rid of any mould and damp.

It had been empty for quite a while, but this didn't bother London-based Madrene who bought the house without viewing it in person. Madrene had property experience and bought it for £125,000 at the online auction.

The kitchen and bathroom needed re-doing as well a full-home cosmetic glow-up. Madrene had a budget of between £15,000 and £20,000 to carry out any renovations with a timescale of three to four months.

And five months on, in April of this year, the house was complete. A new kitchen and bathroom had been fitted, all mould and damp had been removed and the garden had a well-need clean-up.

Madrene went a little bit over her budget spending £28,000. She admitted she had underestimated the cost after material prices had increased drastically.

After investing a total of £153,000, she got a "big thumbs up" from a local estate agent at Elizabeth Davenport. Nick Luntley estimated the home could be sold for around £200,000.

If Madrene wanted to rent it, Mr Luntley said she could get around £1,100 per calendar month.

The Coventry segments are at 13m22s and 44m0s:

Ex-council house I think? The valuations on that programme are always on the optimistic side.

Would love to know where it is?
