Amber Davies is joining the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. The multi-award-winning entertainment show, produced by BBC Studios, airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer every Saturday.

Amber is a Welsh actor, podcaster, TV personality, and West End star. Viewers will see her make her debut on tomorrow night’s Strictly Come Dancing – the first live show of the series - dancing with her partner Nikita Kuzmin.

Amber first rose to fame when she was voted the winner of Love Island in 2017. Since then, she has pursued a professional acting career, with lead roles in theatre productions including Pretty Woman, 9 to 5: The Musical, and The Great Gatsby. On television she presented the documentary Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5, which saw Amber fly to Nashville to meet and interview Dolly Parton. Amber hosts her own podcast series, Call To Stage, where she interviews stars from the world of theatre. Amber also acted in the CBBC television drama series Almost Never, and competed in the sixteenth series of Dancing on Ice.

On joining Strictly Come Dancing, Amber Davies says: “This has been the craziest 24 hours of my life. I’ve watched Strictly with my family since I was younger and to now be part of the show is a dream come true. I’m going to give it my all and I am sending Dani well wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope I do her proud.”

Amber has just started rehearsals with her partner Nikita Kuzmin, and they will dance a Waltz on tomorrow night’s first live show of the series.

Amber will compete on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing alongside Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Alex Kingston, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Balvinder Sopal, George Clarke, La Voix, Chris Robshaw, Ellie Goldstein, Thomas Skinner, Vicky Pattison, Stefan Dennis, Ross King, Karen Carney and Lewis Cope. Today’s announcement follows Dani Dyer’s departure from this year’s competition due to injury.

Strictly Come Dancing is a BBC Studios Entertainment production for BBC One and BBC iPlayer and was commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC. The Executive Producer is Sarah James, the Series Editors are Nicola Fitzgerald and Jack Gledhill. The Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Jo Wallace.
