Tila Tequila has been kicked out of Celebrity Big Brother less than 24 hours after the new series launched last night (August 27).

Channel 5 released a statement on Friday night confirming that producers removed Tequila from the house, upon learning that she'd posted controversial messages about Nazism on social media.

"Unfortunately, Channel 5 and Endemol did not know about the views and attitudes Tila had expressed in social media postings prior to her involvement in Celebrity Big Brother," a Channel 5 spokesperson said.

"When they were brought to our attention, she was called to the Diary Room for a discussion with producers and was subsequently removed from the house.

"The views Tila had expressed, and permitted to remain uncorrected, are totally unacceptable and, accordingly, her continued involvement in the programme was untenable."

Back in 2013, Tequila wrote a controversial essay for her website under the provocative title 'Why I Sympathize with Hitler: Part I'.

The US reality star argued at the time that her essay was not derived in anti-Semitism, and instead was a tribute to "a man who was not a coward, stood up for his country in a DESPERATE TIME OF NEED".

Tequila also shared a picture on social media of herself dressed in Nazi garb standing in front of the Auschwitz death camp.

Producers of Celebrity Big Brother apparently became aware of those postings after Tequila engaged in a discussion of Hitler with fellow housemates.

Celebrity Big Brother continues each night on Channel 5.

Err, that picture was circulated in 2013 and was the subject of much protest at the time so how come Channel 5's researchers knew nothing about it?

Tila Tequila sorry for "irresponsible" Hitler comments after Celebrity Big Brother ejection

Tila Tequila has issued an apology for "irresponsible [and] reckless" comments she made about Nazism and Adolf Hitler two years ago.

The model and reality TV star was dramatically ejected from the Big Brother house less than 24 hours after the launch show, after controversy around an essay posted on her website titled 'Why I Sympathise with Hitler: Part I'.

"Back in 2013 I made a statement about Hitler not being a bad person, and immediately realized soon after that I had made a terrible mistake that would ultimately come back to haunt me," said Tila.

"During that time I had been suffering from severe depression, and drug addiction for many years prior to that. I also attempted to commit suicide in 2012, and overdosed on prescription pills. I wanted to die. I felt worthless, and unloved as that pain continued to grow causing me to further spiral out of control. Losing touch of myself, and reality.

"It was absolutely the lowest point I had ever reached in my life, and today I am truly sorry to everyone that I may have hurt along my self-destructive path. I have made many mistakes that I am definitely not proud about, but I am only a flawed human who is trying my best to be a better person than I was in the past.

"I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible, reckless, and selfish actions and I hope that everyone can forgive me for the pain that I may have caused. I want to be a good role model for my daughter because I don't want her to go through what I have had to endure."

At the time, Tila wrote that her provocative post about the fascist dictator was a tribute to "a man who was not a coward, [but] stood up for his country in a desperate time of need".

A photo has also been circulating showing her dressed in Nazi garb standing in front of the Auschwitz death camp.

In explaining why she was removed from Celebrity Big Brother, producers said: "Unfortunately, Channel 5 and Endemol did not know about the views and attitudes Tila had expressed in social media postings prior to her involvement in [the show].

"When they were brought to our attention, she was called to the Diary Room for a discussion with producers and was subsequently removed from the house.

"The views Tila had expressed, and permitted to remain uncorrected, are totally unacceptable and, accordingly, her continued involvement in the programme was untenable."

Janice Dickinson, Farrah Abraham, Bobby Davro and Jenna Jameson are among the contestants in Celebrity Big Brother's UK vs USA-themed series, which continues on Channel 5.

They are her views and she is entitled to them.
