The 27-year-old gymnast beat EastEnders actor Matt Lapinskas to lift the trophy in tonight's final (March 10).

Tweddle, who had been an early favourite to win the show, said that she was "speechless" after being told by presenter Philip Schofield that she was the victor.

Her professional partner on the show Dan Whiston said: "I've never heard Beth say she's speechless - ever!"

Meanwhile, Schofield told Tweddle: "You were the one we were waiting for!"

Earlier in the programme, Tweddle and Lapinskas had beaten boxer Luke Campbell to third place. Both then had to perform their version of Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean's infamous 'Bolero' routine that won them gold at the 1984 Winter Olympics.

Tweddle was then crowned as the winner, and presented a trophy by Torvill and Dean.
