Glenn Ward became the latest Apprentice candidate fired by Lord Sugar on the BBC One reality show tonight.

Sugar challenged the candidates to create their own freesheet publications and then sell advertising space to potential major clients.

Ward was part of Jim Eastwood's Team Venture, who created a magazine for the Over 60s titled Hip Replacement. Natasha Scribbins and Team Logic's lads' mag Covered demolished them when it came to profit as they secured a £60,000 exclusivity deal.

Sugar blasted Team Venture for the wordplay in their brand name, commenting: "The name Hip Replacement is bad. I'm disappointed that all four of you stuck to that title... This is pretty old fashioned stuff here.

"Some of the content here is condescending to say the least. Do you think us people of 60 years old are so bleeding thick that we need to be shown how to make a phone call? Are you taking the p*ss or what?!"

Eastwood and Ward blamed Susan Ma for the team's failure, claiming that she had acted with "cowardliness" by not voicing her opinions.

"Susan is Bambi; lack of contribution and a half hearted nature," sniped Eastwood.

Project Manager Eastwood didn't escape criticism from Nick Hewer and Karren Brady, as the duo accused him of being "passive aggressive" and "covering his arse".

However, when it came to the final decision, Lord Sugar claimed that Ward's background in engineering put him off starting a business with the Hertfordshire candidate.

"Glenn, I'm not convinced that a leopard is ever going to change his spots and that an engineer is going to have the right ideas to come into business with me. So with regret, Glenn; you're fired!" said Sugar.

In the black taxi home, Ward said: "It's not the ending I wanted. He just doesn't want to work with an engineer. I honestly don't know why. I didn't fail at one thing."

The Apprentice continues next Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One.
